IT Early-Warning
Fraunhofer Research Institution for Applied and Integrated Security
The increasing connectivity in Information Technology, with mobile Internet via smartphones, the new social media, IP-based protocols in cars as well as industrial plants provide a variety of new malware target (devices) and simultaneously new ways of dissemination. The economic's as well as society's dependency on operational information and communication infrastructures grows. Effective and efficient procedures for the detection of attacks are needed, that allow to initiate appropriate countermeasures in time.
Competences and offerings
Fraunhofer AISEC is developing IT-Early Warning technologies to support ICT operators' ability to react as early as possible to detected or indicated IT-security incidents to avert or mitigate the impact of the observed phenomena. We are developing innovative collaborative early warning procedures, as well as hard- and software-based malware sensors and automated malware analyses and classification systems.
Furthermore, Fraunhofer AISEC is operating a dedicated Early Warning Systems laboratory, in which current trends in malware development can be analysed. Results help to improve malware detection procedures.
